The Provincial Government of La Union is once again conferred as a national finalist in the Search
for Most Business Friendly Local Government Unit (LGU) Award for 2023. The Philippine Chamber of Commerce spearheads this year’s search with the theme “Vision 2050: The Philippines A First-World Economy” which aims to highlight LGU innovations, success stories and best practices that enable businesses to thrive and become sustainable and competitive in partnership with the private sector.

Provincial Administrator Agnes Grace A. Cargamento represented Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David, who was on official travel, in a virtual defense on September 26, 2023. Ms. Cargamento emphasized that the increase of investments generated from new businesses are mostly from tourism and other service industries. She has also highlighted that most infrastructure projects are aligned with the vision of the province in becoming “The Heart of Agri-Tourism in
Northern Luzon by 2025.”

Ms. Cargamento also discussed the challenges of the Province and how it was given solutions through participatory and transformative governance embodied in #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan
and with its partnership with 20 component LGUs and stakeholders in building an enabling environment for a better, stronger, and progressive province contributing to a conducive investment climate for potential investors.

The event was joined by Provincial Planning and Development Coordinator Michaella Louise T. Delfinado; Provincial Information Officer Rowan Joshua E. Dimaculangan; Provincial Treasurer Janet D. Molina; OICProvincial Agriculturist Sharon Aguila Viloria; Local Economic Enterprise and Investment Promotions Unit Assistant Department Head Angela Grace C. Peralta; Information and
Communications Technology Officer II Gerry Binas-o; Supervising Tourism Operations Officer Julius A. Manabat; and Local Assessment Operations Officer I Girl Villarosa. Announcement and Conferment of the Award will be done during the 49th Philippine Business Conference on October 26, 2023 at the Manila Hotel.
