Mayor suspends college classes on Feb.24 for grand street parade

BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan announced that classes on college level will be suspended on February 24 to give way for the celebration of the Panagbenga’s street dancing competition.
The Department of Education also suggested the suspension of classes during the Grand Street Dance Parade to ensure the participation of the schools.
The city government has earlier suspended classes in elementary and secondary levels, both public and private, on Febuary 1,2018  for the grand opening of Panagbenga 2018. Other universities in the city also suspended their classes to support the opening parade.
Councilor Elmer Datuin, Opening & Grand Street Dancing Parade Committee chair person, said that they prepared tons of activities for this year’s Panagbenga Festival. He invited tourists to experience and enjoy the surprising activities during the month-long festivities.
The Grand Street Dance Parade is one of the highlights of the festival. It has turned into an open competition wherein participants from other provinces can join as well alongside the city’s elementary, secondary, collegiate and other participants who will showcase the different cultures and their creativity with their performances.
The Grand Float parade will be on February 25.
Datuin said that preparations for the month-long events are already on going as they coordinate with the Baguio Flower Festival Foundation Inc. They prepared different activities to boost Baguio’s tourism industry.
Preparations for the Session Road in Bloom, from February 26 to March 4, are on going.
The fireworks display for the closing of Panagbenga 2018 has been prepared.
Administrative order No. 10, series of 2018, states that the annual festival will be held from February 1 to March 4 this year with the theme, “Celebration of Culture and Creativity”, where numerous traditional, community-led and government-supported activities will be conducted to boost the Summer Capital’s robust tourism industry.
