NBI, DSWD RESUE 5 WOMEN FROM PIMP IN LA UNION

BAUANG, La Union- Agents of the National Bureau of Investigation-Region 1 and social workers from the
Department of Social Welfare and Development-Region 1 rescued Tuesday night five women being “offered” for paid sex in Bauang town in La Union. The five, ranging from 21- 28 years old, are reportedly being offered to customers by 28 years old Emmanuel Hate Diongon and his partner, a certain Yoyong, for P1,500- P2,000.

The duo, the NBI and DSWD learned, ply for their customers near a convenience store along barangay Poro Point, in San Fernando City, La Union’s capital town. It was also learned that their trade extends from San Fernando City to San Juan, also in La Union. After several days of surveillance operations
launched by NBI operatives earlier tipped by informants about the illegal sex trade of Diongon and his partner Yoyong, an entrapment operation was launched Tuesday night at a hotel in Bauang town, also in La Union where the duo brought the five women to two NBI operatives who posed as customers.

As the two agents handed out the “marked money” to Diongon, operatives and the social workers moved in to officiallt announce the arrest. The five women were brought by the social workers for processing while Diongon was taken to the NBI Region 1 office to answer before the La Union prosecutor’s office for
violating the Anti-trafficking in Persons law. Several months ago, more than a dozen women were also
rescued by the NBI and DSWD Region 1 at videoke bars cum brothels in Agoo, La Union and
Urdaneta City, in Pangasinan.
