Negosyo Center launched in Sablan

SABLAN, Benguet – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) with the local government unit of Sablan launched the Negosyo Center in the town on May 16.
The Negosyo Center is responsible for promoting ease of doing business and facilitating access to services for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
DTI-CAR Regional Director Juliet Lucas emphasized that the Negosyo Center is a grassroots approach that aims to bring closer the different services to the MSMEs and seeks to strengthen these small businesses.
“Negosyo Center is an office, a co-working space for all agencies or organizations that are supportive to or with programs that are supportive to MSME development. It’s not a place where we sell, it’s a place where we coordinate, give consultation, do registration and information dissemination about entrepreneurship,” she explained.
Lucas said Sablan was chosen as one of the priorities for the establishment of the center because of its high ranking productivity and it has a lot of products to promote like pineapple, coffee, tiger grass, and root crops, among others.
“We put up this Negosyo Center in Sablan so that dagiti negosyante ken dagiti potential entrepreneurs ket they will have an office that will serve them where they are. And that’s the purpose of Negosyo Center, it’s a grassroots approach na we bring our services closer to the people,” she said.
On the other hand, DTI Baguio-Benguet Provincial Director Atty. Samuel Gallardo said that the Negosyo Center has an active role in the provision of whatever assistance can be given to the MSMEs.
“As we move forward, we do hope that we would be able to help track your progress/development, particularly in terms of assisting our micro, small, and medium enterprises,” stated Gallardo.
The DTI and the local government of Sablan signed a memorandum of agreement for the management of the Negosyo Center. Representatives of the Department of Agriculture, Cooperative Development Authority, the Provincial Local Government Unit of Benguet, and municipal LGU served as witnesses.
The center will be manned by a business counselor designated by the DTI. The municipal LGU through Mayor Manuel Munar expressed gratitude for the establishment of a Negosyo Center in their municipality as he appealed for the cooperation of everyone for the betterment of the town.
“Agtitinnulong tayo ladta, datayo nga agkakaaruba nga farmers, we share ladta jay nay new practices nga ishi-share ti DTI tapnu iti kasta ket ag-improve iti production iti farmers tayo,” stressed Munar.
