NIA-CAR COMPLETES 259 IRRIGATION PROJECTS IN 2023
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet
The National Irrigation Administration Cordillera (NIA- CAR) reported that it completed 259 out of the 272
programmed irrigation projects in 2023 , equivalent to 96 percent accomplishment. It benefitted 17, 019 farmers
and generated 9, 288 jobs. Some 929 hectares of new areas were developed and restored 2, 693.27 hectares for a total of 3,622.97. Based on the report as of June 21, 2024 submitted to Engr. Benito Espique Jr., NIA-CAR Regional Manager Engr.
Sammy Kimbungan, Engineering Construction Head, these completed projects are located in Abra (29); Apayao (27); Benguet (53); Ifugao( 31); Kalinga (32) and Mt. Province (87).Among the projects completed are – Repair of Ground Pump Irrigation System (RGPIS), Establishment of Ground Pump Irrigation System (ERGPIS), repair of communal and national irrigation systems (CIS/ NIS). The agency has a total allocation of P1, 654,599.73 million for 2023.
