NPA Rebel Surrenders In Isabela

BAGUIO CITY – An alleged NPA rebel who confessed of leading a 6-man team as squad leader surrendered to authorities in Isabela late Sunday afternoon.
The male rebel told Isabela policemen that he was recruited sometime in November 2019 under the “Regional Sentro De Grabidad” (RSDG), Komiteng Rehiyon Cagayan Valley (KR-CV).
While the group was at the mountainous portion of Ilagan City, he ran away from his rebel team and sought the Vice Mayor of Divilacan, Isabela who turned him over to the town’s police station chief.
Cagayan Valley police director Brig. Gen. Angelito Casimiro said the rebel squad leader, who is from barangay Dimapnat, Divilacan town, was met by authorities along the seashore in his village “for his formal surrender marking his return to the mainstream of society”.
Casimiro said he emphasized to the “returnee” that the government is sincere in its offer of peace, while reiterating to his team mates and other remaining rebels still up along the Sierra Madre mountain ranges to copy the example of the NPA squad team leader and live peaceful lives, while vowing to ensure their safety.
