P6-M marijuana plants, sinira sa Kalinga

LUNGSOD NG BAGUIO – Sinira ng mga tropa ng gobyerno ang mga tanim na marijuana na nagkakahalaga ng P6.1 milyon sa Tinglayan, Kalinga, ito ang iniulat ng 5th Infantry Division (5ID) na nakabase sa Isabela noong Martes, Pebrero 13.
Sinabi ni Captain Jefferson Somera, Division Public Affairs Office (DPAO) chief, na ang tatlong plantasyon ng fully-grown marijuana plants sa Mount Chumanchil sa Tinglayan ay nadiskubre ng pinagsamang element ng 50th Infantry Battalion ng 5ID, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Cordillera at Region 2, Kalinga Police Provincial Office, at Tinglayan Municipal Police personnel noong Pebrero 11.
Sinunog ng mga raiding team ang mga marijuana plants sa lugar.
Ayon pa kay Somera, ang pinagsamang lawak ng lugar na tinatayang 5,200 square meters ay nasa halos 11 kilometrong aerial distance mula sa sentro ng bayan ng Tinglayan.
“Protecting the people from the influence of illegal drugs is everybody’s responsibility. We will continue to work with the other law enforcement agencies until the dream of our President to have a drug-free community is achieved, and this means clearing the whole of Cordillera and Cagayan Valley regions of drugs,” pahayag ni Brig. Gen. Perfecto Rimando Jr., commander ng 5ID.
Pinarangalan ni Rimando ang raiding teams na nagsanib puwersa sa operasyon. Siniguro niya sa kanila ang suporta ng 5ID sa lahat ng law enforcement operations na nasa kaniyang nasasakupan. ABN
