Parent and teacher partnership means a lot

Parents play a vital role in molding a child to reach his full potential.  It is in the home where children learns the foundations of education and develop values which help them achieve their goals in life.
According to the research conducted by the National Education Association, a strong parent, child and educator relationship helps boost student achievement and outcomes.  Parents are the child’s first and most important teacher. When parents and families are involved in their children’s school activities, they do better and are more secured and confident about school. In fact, many studies show that children’s success bank on the extent on how the parents are involved with their children’s activities, and not on how much money they make to support their child.  There are many ways in which parents can support their children’s learning at home throughout the school year.  These are some insights to remind parents to keep on going.

  1. Attend Parent-Teacher Conferences. Schools usually have three to four Parent-Teacher Conferences each school year. This is an avenue where parents can follow up their children’s progress and raise concerns about their child.
  1. Get to know who’s who at your child’s school. There are many people at your child’s school who are there to help your child learn, grow socially and emotionally, and explore the school environment. Teachers, school administrator and classmates are   partners who will surely help in shaping your child grow each day.
  1. Always make time to follow-up on your child’s progress. Keeping an open communication with your child by letting him/her freely express her experiences for the day will help you gauge his/her performance. Assisting your child in his/her school tasks will not only help your children to succeed, but will also make your bond stronger.

As they say there is no other thing that matters in world but the success of our children.  These simple reminders will aid parents to become more responsible and caring in honing their children to succeed and to become the best they can be. ANGELITA A. ALIPING, Quezon Hill Elementary School
