PGLU CONTINUES TO PROMOTE EXCELLENT PUBLIC HEALTH, RECOGNIZES CHAMPS ON HEALTH

SAN FERNANDO, La Union

To inspire and encourage healthcare workers to strive for excellence in health, the Provincial
Government of La Union through the Provincial Health Office recognizes exceptional efforts and remarkable achievements of Local Government Units (LGUs) with this year’s Gawad Kalusugan
Award: Pagkilala sa Dekalidad at Mapagkalingang Serbisyong Pangkalusugan Para Sa Kaprobinsiaan held at Hotel Ariana, Paringao Bauang, La Union on December 11, 2023.

Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David, represented by Mr. Justo Orros III, Executive Assistant IV, graces the event and said, “Napakaswerte po ng ating mga kaprobinsyaan dahil merong mga katulad ninyo na may malasakit sa kanilang kalusugan. From innovative healthcare programs to community outreach initiatives, lahat po mg iyan ay pagpapakita ng inyong malasakit, ng inyong pakikipag La Union PROBINSYAnihan.”

Board Member Ruperto Rillera, Jr., Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee Chairperson on Health, acknowledged the true champions of health in LGUs saying, “Let us take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to all dedicated healthcare professionals, policymakers, and individuals who have
helped towards the betterment of our province’s healthcare system.”

Board Member Maria Rosario Eufrosina Nisce, Board Member Jennifer MosuelaFernandez, Local Chief Executives of various LGUs, representatives from Municipal Health Office (MHOs), Department of HealthProvincial DOH Office (DOH PDOHO), and partners from the Philippine Information Agency were also present during the recognition. LGUs awarded for their Localized High Impact Health Policy Reforms with 100% Accomplishment were the Municipalities of Agoo,
Aringay, Balaoan, Bauang, Luna, Naguilian, Pugo, San Juan, and Santol.

Awardees for achieving high percentage of LGU budget allocated for health were Municipalities of Aringay, Balaoan, Bangar, Caba, Naguilian, and Rosario. The PGLU also recognized those who have Strategic Thrusts to Ensure Equitable Health Financing and Improve the performance of the LGU
which include the Municipalities of Agoo, Bagulin, Santol, and Tubao. The Best Implementer of
Nutrition Program Initiatives were the Municipalities of Bacnotan, Bauang, and Naguilian while the Best Performing Local Government Units on Maternal, Neonatal, Child Health, and Nutrition
Program was the Municipality of Balaoan.

Recognition was also given to DOH-Accredited Primary Care Facilities to include the Municipal Health Offices of Bagulin, Bauang, Luna, Naguilian, San Gabriel, and Santol. The Best Performing LGUs on Environmental Sanitation Program were Bagulin, Balaoan, Bauang, Caba, Luna, Naguilian, Pugo, San Juan, and Santol. Dr. Gretchen F. Aromin who was the LUDH ISO Lead
Auditor for 2017-2019; Dr. Zenserly D. Pagaduan LUDH ISO Lead Auditor 2019-2020; Mr. Alexander N. Flores LUDH ISO Lead Auditor 2020-2021; Ms. Sharon A. Fontanilla LUDH ISO Lead Auditor 2017-2023; and Mr. Marlon C. Runas LUDH ISO Assistant Lead Auditor 2017-2019; Head, Document Control Custodian 2017-2019 were also recognized for their services.

Spotlight was also given to National Awardees including the Caba District Hospital for being the DOH Star Awardee and Seal of Good Local Governance Awardees for the Local Government Units of Agoo, Aringay, Bacnotan, Bagulin, Balaoan, Bangar, Bauang, Burgos, Caba, Luna, Naguilian, Rosario, San Juan, Santo Tomas, Sudipen, and Tubao. Special Awardees for providing Technical Assistance were Mr. Kenje Paningbatan of LGU Luna and Mr. Alfred Bambao of LGU Bauang.

The event culminated with the presentation of best practices and accomplishments in various health programs by the MHOs Santol, Agoo, and Balaoan. All presenters highlighted their love for their job which fuels them to do their best for the betterment of the community. In his closing message, Provincial Health Officer II Dr. Eduardo S. Posadas said, “Our vision for health is Healthy La Union, Happy La Union by 2025 and I’m very sure we will attain this vision by 2025. Again,
Congratulations po sa lahat.”

La Union healthcare workers have once again manifested their commitment to #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan through their strong efforts and support in promoting the health
and wellness of Kaprobinsiaan. The PGLU continues to celebrate these unsung heroes of society who deserve to be recognized for giving quality healthcare services to the community.
