PGLU, GOV. RAFY CONFER 2022 SEARCH FOR THE CLEANEST, SAFEST, GREENEST LGU WINNERS

SAN FERNANDO, La Union

Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega David spearheaded the conferment of the winners of 2022 Search for the Cleanest, Safest, and Greenest Local Government Units (LGU) of the Province on May 31, 2024 at the Provincial Capitol Lobby, City of San Fernando, La Union. The Search for Cleanest, Safest, and Greenest LGU is an annual incentivized program of the Provincial Government of La Union that gives recognition to the LGUs’ notable achievements in implementing various environmental programs in their respective jurisdictions.

The winners for the 1st to 3rd Class Municipalities were Bacnotan, Balaoan, and Naguilian, winning first, second, and third place, respectively. For the 4th to 5th Class Municipalities, the winners were Santol for first place, Sudipen, second place; and Caba, third place. For the Municipal Bodies of Water Coastal Category, the winners were the Immuki Island in Balaoan, garnering first place; and Urbiztondo Surfing Area in San Juan and the San Carlos Beach in Caba, for second and third place, respectively.

For the Freshwater Category, Bulalakaw Falls in Bagulin won first place; Tapuakan River in Pugo, ranked second; and Tangadan Falls in San Gabriel ranked third. The Best “Magsidalus iti Arubayan” Implementer for the Rural Category were awarded to Barangay Ubagan of Sanro Tomas, first place; Barangay Casilagan of San Juan, second place; and Barangay Tagudtud of Bagulin, third place. In the Urban Category, Barangay Dr. Camilo Osias of Balaoan, Barangay Quirino of Bacnotan, and Barangay Magallanes of Luna were hailed winners for first, second, and third place, respectively.

On the other hand, LGU Burgos and Barangay Up-Uplas of Sudipen received their checks as best “Magsidalus iti Arubayan” Municipal and Barangay Implementer during the 2021 Search. Gov. Rafy congratulated all the winners for their outstanding #LaUnionProbinsyanihan initiatives on environmental protection and conservation and encourage them to ensure sustainability of their initiatives.
