SALPANG ELEMENTARY SCHOOL FIRST PLACE IN THE SEARCH FOR THE BEST GULAYAN SA PAARALAN

The municipality of Tuba conducted Search for the Best Gulayan sa Paaralan in celebration of their 113th Foundation Anniversary. Last December 11, 2024, Salpang Elementary School was awarded as First Place among the public elementary and secondary schools in Tuba. Salpang Gulayan sa Paaralan was established last school year 2011 – 2012 in coordination with the Municipal Agriculture Office of LGU-Tuba. As part of their motivation for its establishment, cash prize at stake for the winning entries.

Besides the competition of the municipality, the primary noble purpose and benefits of the gulayan was the primordial motivation of both parents and teachers of Salpang ES. With the collaboration, insistent and support of all concern parties and local government line agencies, it was gradually developed into a desired school garden maximizing the available land area with farm-lay out and production plan which includes the crop programming, crop rotation, integrated farming practices in the same unit of land.

Salpang ES has been recipient of the same awards for this search and was able to sustain the garden. The cash prize worth P25, 000.00 will be used to further enhance the Gulayan sa Paaralan for the construction of nursery for vegetable seedling production, native chicken facility and additional rain shelter for an inclusive development and as showcase of improve technology combination and maximizing the small area with variety of product line produce and increase farm income
