CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga
The city government will soon have its own hospital following the issuance of permit by the Department of Health (DOH). The health facility to be named as Tabuk City Diagnostic Center and
Emergency Hospital (TCDCEH) will rise at the city government’s lot in Barangay Appas, here. City Administrator Arnold Tenedero informed that necessary requirements are being prepared for the immediate start of the project.
The project has been long proposed under the city-LGU’s Health Program aimed at bringing primary health care to its growing population, especially the less-privileged, Tenedero noted. The DOH’s move affirmed the pressing need of LGUs to have and operate their own hospitals in line with the country’s Universal Health Care Program, he added. The facility when operational would be a major government health service provider and help lessen the problem on over-capacity in
other government hospitals.
Meanwhile, Ivan Yannick Bagayao, Chair-Committee on Health of the City Council, expressed strong support to the project and thanked the DOH for approving the project. The hospital he said will help decongest the Kalinga Provincial Hospital or private hospitals in the province. It will be an added emergency care facility with the city’s increasing cases of vehicular accidents.
