Taxi driver tests positive of COVID19 in Baguio City

BAGUIO CITY (June 12, 2020) – A taxi driver tested positive of the virus in Baguio City on Friday, bringing to 6 active cases here.
Baguio mayor Benjamin Magalong identified the patient as a 60 year old from Honeymoon – Holy Ghost Ext. village, which was immediately placed on lockdown to start contact tracing.
The case is the very first from the transport sector as massive testing started last June 9 for all drivers who are now required to undergo testing as they are in contact with other people.
Some 400 drivers are tested every day and serves as a requirement that will allow a driver to ply his route.
The 60-year old driver joins the 41 year old police major who have been in confinement for a month now after sneaking into the city with charges to be filed against him for breaking quarantine protocols.
John Delinger Batulan, the 38-year old nurse recently recovered from cancer and his 32 year old brother as well as the 25-year old male from Poliwes barangay here recently incarcerated and the 28 store manager from Binmaley, Pangasinan remain confined at the BGHMC.
Bernard Agbuya, the 25-year old inmate and Ailen Doria, the 28 year old store manager were supposed to be released today, said city epidemiology survey office head Dr. Donnabelle Tubera, but their discharge was postponed for tomorrow, June 13.
Baguio City Public Information Officer Aileen Pagui-Refuerzo said that the police major is also ready to be discharged.
