Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) programs have become a driving force behind the empowerment of Baguio City’s youth and the development of a workforce equipped to face the challenges of the contemporary period. TLE programs are essential for bridging the gap between traditional academics and useful, real-world skills as we navigate the quickly changing educational landscape. A research by Lopez et al. (2023) found that TLE programs play a crucial role in providing students with the skills that employers in the modern workforce want. The program has a strong emphasis on practical application, giving students real-world experience outside of the classroom.

This strategy is especially important in Baguio City because of the city’s thriving economy and variety of businesses, which include tourism and agriculture. The flexibility of TLE programs to accommodate new technology is one of their main advantages. TLE’s use of technology in the classroom benefits Baguio, a city with a growing tech economy. This improves the educational process and guarantees that students have a solid understanding of the digital tools and competencies needed to succeed in the modern workplace (Gomez & Santos, 2022).

Additionally, Baguio’s TLE programs place a strong emphasis on entrepreneurship, giving students the know-how and abilities required to launch and run small enterprises. The vibrant group of young entrepreneurs who have successfully launched their TLE educations into businesses and boosted the city’s economy is a local success story. This emphasis on entrepreneurship fits nicely with the innovative and independent attitude of the city. To further understand the impact of TLE programs on Baguio’s workforce, we spoke with educators and industry professionals who emphasized the practical nature of the curriculum.

According to Felto P. Agpawa, a TLE educator with more than ten years of experience in Baguio City National High School, now a principal of a certain elementary school, “TLE programs prepare students for the real world by focusing on skills that are immediately applicable in the workforce. It’s about making learning relevant.” It is impossible to overestimate the importance of technology and livelihood education programs in empowering the workforce as Baguio City develops.

Through the implementation of technology in the classroom, the development of an entrepreneurial attitude, and the provision of practical skills to students, TLE programs in Baguio are preparing a new generation of workers who can make significant contributions to the city’s various and vibrant industries. The joint endeavors of instructors, learners, and business associates highlight the shared dedication to constructing a future in which Baguio’s labor force is not just equipped but also enabled for prosperity
