The Silent Killer: Hypertension

What is the use being wealthy if you are not healthy? You may not be able to enjoy food you wanted to eat, things you wanted to have and places you needed to visit and your actions is limited. Is it sad? Definitely!

In the Philippines, hypertension is number two of the 10 Killer Diseases that kill Filipinos according to a study in 2017. And without treatment this High Blood Pressure or Hypertension can lead to heart failure, vision loss, stoke and kidney disease.

There are two categories of High Blood Pressure: the Essential HBP and Secondary HBP and there are too many causes of HBP: Family History, of course when someone has it in your family circle, then surely it’s running in the blood.

Age. Well, people who get older have a higher chance of developing this disease because the blood vessels become less flexible.

Obesity/Overweight, Poor diet and the risk of eating salty, oily, greasy food most likely develop HBP. Lifestyle, liquor, smoking, and no exercise are now making a tool of you from your previous lifestyle.

Mental stress, work then works and works again. Stress can have a severe impact on blood pressure s some experts may say.

People do not usually feel any symptom that is why some called it the silent killer but if you have time to see a nurse or a doctor, let them check your BP then you may be able to know eventually that when your blood pressure reading is 180/ 120 it is likely you have hypertension crisis that you may feel headache, vomiting, dizziness, blurred vision, nosebleed, nausea, heart palpitations and breathlessness.

Don’t you know you that even Children can have this kind of disease with the same symptoms and that they may have Bell’s Palsy the inability to control the muscle on one side of the face. Now moving on, on how to cure or treat HBP depends on your Blood Pressure increase.

But most likely exercise is good even if simply walking, losing weight is good also perhaps less salty and fatty foods. Sleep must be 8hours and Drinking Moderate Caffeine is advisable for people with HBP.
