Two kids drown in Kalinga capital town irrigation

BAGUIO CITY (April 2, 2022)— Bodies of the two elementary school children who fell into the irrigation canal in Purok 6, Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga were retrieved by rescue teams after more than three hours Friday afternoon.
According to the Kalinga Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO), Jessa Mae Palactao, 9, and David Cusay Palactao, 12, both residents of Bulanao, Tabuk City were playing near the irrigation canal and when they were washing their hands at a faucet nearby they accidentally slipped and fell directly to the deep canal.
Emergency responders who rushed to the site upon receiving the report about the incident searched for the victims and found the 12-year-old boy at around 5:15 PM while the 9-year-old girl was found at 5:39 PM, Friday.
Both were brought to the Kalinga Provincial Hospital but were pronounced dead by attending physicians.
In April last year, an SUV fell into the irrigation canal in Barangay Bulo also of Tabuk City after the driver lost control of the said vehicle.   Thirteen people died during that accident mostly children.
