Water station caretaker murdered in Abra capital

BAGUIO CITY – A supposed assassin single-handedly felled “professional-style” a water refilling station caretaker Thursday night in Abra’s capital town Bangued.
Kelvin V. Bandayrel, 28, caretaker of the Aquelyne water refilling station, did not reach the hospital alive after a still unidentified gunman pumped three bullets.
The assassin casually left on foot after making sure his victim was dead. Police found out that Bandayrel was sitting in front of the water refilling station at around 8PM along Gomez St., Zone 5, when the gunman approached and began shooting.
The shooting is just a stone-throw away from the Provincial capitol, capital town hall and town police station. Crime scene investigators, who have yet to ascertain what prompted the killing, found 3 empty shells of caliber .45 firearm from where Bandayrel was shot.
Probers have summond CCTV footages in the area to track the assassin and find out what is behind the killing, the first after the May 13 midterm election where intense political rivalry and partisanship still became apparent in the capital town and in some towns in the province.
