Region 1 Beefs Up Security Preparations and Planning in time for 2022 NLE

CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO – The Commission on Elections activated on Friday (January 7) the Regional Joint Security Control Center at the PRO1 Conference Room, Camp BGen Oscar M Florendo, Parian, City of San Fernando, La Union to beef up the security preparations of the region for the forthcoming 2022 National and Local Elections.
The members of said body convened to coordinate the efforts between COMELEC, PNP,AFP and other tasked agencies for the stern implementation of election campaign guidelines as prescribed under COMELEC Resolution No. 10730.
This also includes the implementation of minimum health protocols during campaign activities.
Present during the activity were Atty Jubil S Surmieda, Regional Election Director; Atty Reddy C Balarbar, Assistant Regional Election Director; PBGEN EMMANUEL B PERALTA, PRO1 Regional Director; BGEN KRISHNA MURTIA MORTELA, Brigade Commander 702nd Infantry Brigade Philippine Army; and COMMODORE INOCENCIO C ROSARIO JR, Commander, Coast Guard District.
In his message, Police Brigadier General Emmanuel B Peralta, PRO1 Regional Director stressed the importance of strengthened coordination among the concerned agencies in achieving the safe and peaceful conduct of the 2022 polls.
“Also, starting January 9, all quarantine Checkpoints will be converted into COMELEC Checkpoints in compliance with COMELEC Resolution No. 10741,” PBGEN Peralta averred.
Police Regional Office 1 has also committed the maximum deployment of personnel addressed at ensuring the safe and peaceful election campaign which will commence on Sunday (January 9).
Likewise, a virtual press briefing was also held after the meeting.
