BAGUIO CITY – Sa patuloy ng pagbaba ng kaso ng coronavirus disease (COVID-19), kasabay din ang patuloy na mataas na bilang ng recoveries sa mga nakalipas na araw, ay hiling naman ngayon ni Mayor Benjamin Magalong sa Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases na isailalim na sa Alert Level status 2 ang tinaguriang Summer Capital.
Ang siyudad ng Baguio ay nasa Alert Level 3 hanggang Pebrero 15.
Ayon kay Magalong, “Our case reproduction number (Rt) went above 1.0 starting Dec. 23 and we were able to lower it back below 1.0 on Jan 21 or after 29 days. (For Delta it took us 1 month and 2 days). Today is our 12th day with an Rt below 1.0. I am confident it will go down further.”
Aniya mula sa mataas na 693 cases a day (7 day moving average), ngayon bumaba ito sa 141. “This is based on onset of symptoms. Looking at the trend, it will continue to be on a downhill.”
Ayon kay Magalong, base sa ibang analytical graphs and data (ADAR, weekly growth rate, 2-week infection growth rate, positivity rate, vaccination rate, HCUR, occupancy rate in LGU-managed Isolation and Quarantine facilities) ay lumitaw sa assessment na ang kaso ay pababa na.
“Hopefully sa mga susunod pang araw ay magpatuloy ang pagbaba ng kaso at tumaas pa ang recoveries. Pinaghahandaan natin ngayon ay ang ating economic recovery plan para sa new normal.”

“The city is not only focused on Covid-19 management but also our recovery and this year, we’ll showcase how well our city will recover and build back to its original glory in many ways.
“Kailangan mabilis ang action pagdating sa economic recovery,” ayon kay Magalong. Ayon kay Magalong, kabilang sa mga recovery plan ay ang implementasyon ng mga priority projects na makakatulong sa libu-libong employment.
Ang mga city projects na inaasahang maisasakatuparan ngayong taon ay ang sports complex sac Baguio Athletic Bowl, kabilang ang rehabilitation ng tennis court, outdoor archery range, swimming pool bleachers and office building, comfort rooms, coffee shop, storage areas, and mini-conference room; construction of athletes’ quarters; isolation hub; outdoor facilities for wall climbing; skate park; development of Wright Park, Bayan Park, and Eco-Park; multi-level greenhouse at Botanical Garden; Green Walks projects and sidewalk rehabilitation; digital transformation center; second phase arboretum; Irisan barangay hall; and rehabilitation of the City Hall multi-purpose hall and gym.
Nakalinya din under public-private partnership (PPP) ay ang city market development; intermodal transport facility; development of abattoir with cold storage facility; Mines View Park glass walk; cable car and elevated monorail; and smart city mobility system at rehabilitation of the sewerage system.
“These projects will be pursued but the Covid-19 response will remain a priority,” pahayag pa ni Magalong.
