Baguio media club gives red carpet treatment to Lucky Summer Visitors

BAGUIO CITY – Four individuals  selected as Lucky Summer Visitors from Baguio-bound buses morning of Holy Thursday were given red carpet treatment for four days including  free hotel accommodation and tour  in the city and nearby towns of Benguet.
The four  chosen  by  the  Baguio Correspondents and Broadcasters Club (BCBC) selection were  Elvien Coning, 30 ,  a factory worker and her boyfriend Jayson Caseres, 23,   and a   welder, who  reside in Taguig City;  Ira Jane Miclang of Caloocan City, 21  years old and an audit staff at Upson International Inc. and Alvin Francisco, 26,  from Valenzuela City, who works as IT HelpDesk of Splash Corporation.
They were chosen by a selection team headed by Migz Velarde of Sky Cable and Alah Sungduan of PTV Cordillera and BCBC President Jonathan Munar of Radyo Pilipinas aboard two Victory buses in Sison, Pangasinan.
The four LSVs were then motorcaded up to Baguio City with a stop-over at Barangay Twin Peaks in the municipality of Tuba, the first Benguet community along Kennon Road, where they were met by barangay and municipal officials headed by Mayor Ignacio Rivera.
They had their first photo opt at the famous Lion’s Head and the tourist view deck.
In Baguio, they were presented and joined for lunch by the other BCBC officials and members at Camp Peppot, the annual Holy Week media camp at Burnham Park before they were escorted for a courtesy call with Mayor Mauricio Domogan at the Baguio City Hall.
They were billeted at Hotel Supreme, another partner of BCBC, where they stayed until morning of Easter Sunday.
The LSVs were toured  to key tourists destinations in Baguio such as the Botanical Garden, Wright Park, The Mansion, Philippine Military Academy and Tam-Awan Village and in nearby Benguet municipalities that include the  Strawberry Fields in La Trinidad, Winaca Eco-tourism Park in Tublay, and BenCab Museum in Tuba, among others.
The LSV also paid courtesy call to Benguet Governor Crescencio Pacalso and La Trinidad Mayor Romeo Salda.
During the send-off program at Camp Peppot Easter Sunday, the four LSVs expressed their gratitude to the BCBC officials and members. They said they were surprised and amazed to be selected as the 2018 LSVs and truly enjoyed all the attention, privileges and perks given to them.
“I am thankful to be selected as one of the Lucky Summer Visitors. I have learned so much about the culture of Baguio and other provinces and municipalities of Cordillera. It is also my first time to see where the strawberries are coming from. I have many unforgettable memories to bring home,” Caseres said.
“I am very happy. I only work at a warehouse and it is my first time to meet and talk with mayors and media practitioners like you. Thank you very, very much,” Coning said.
BCBC also rented a van that brought them home along with all their souvenirs including a USB flash drive that contains their souvenir photos collected and compiled from all the media photographers that accompanied them in their daily tours.
An annual project of the BCBC since 1958, individuals, couples, families or group of friends, as long as it is their first time to visit Baguio during the Holy Week have the chance to be selected as BCBC Lucky Summer Visitors.  CCD-PIA CAR / ABN
