1,502 CORN FARMERS IN CAR TO RECEIVE PHP4.5 MILLION WORTH OF FUEL DISCOUNT

A total of 1,502 corn farmers are expected to receive their fuel discount assistance amounting to Php4,506,000.00 as the distribution of fuel discount cards in the Cordillera Administrative Region officially started this week through a caravan.
The caravan is held simultaneously in the provinces of Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, and Mountain Province from June 8-10 while the remaining two provinces are scheduled simultaneously on June 15-16 in their designated distribution areas.
Under the program, each qualified corn farmer is granted P3,000.00 worth of fuel discount as part of DA’s instituted measures with the constant increase of fuel prices that affect agricultural operations, thus, maximizing the utilization of farm machinery and facilities.
Agyamanak ta adda ti inted da [DA] tapnu isu pay nga maibawas nga gastusen [ti krudo] idjay talon (I am thankful for the assistance that they [DA] provided so that we can lessen our expenses [on fuel] in the farm,” said Beverly Ropawa from Pinukpuk, Kalinga, one of the beneficiaries who received her fuel discount card on June 9 in Tabuk City.
The beneficiaries shall present their cards upon purchase of fuel or diesel from the identified partner oil companies to avail of the fuel discount. Mr. Ronan Soriano of the Regional Corn Program said that the fuel discount can be availed by the farmers 1-2 weeks after receipt of the discount card or when the USSC has sent them a confirmation message.
Accordingly, the discount may be claimed through their authorized representative who shall present his/her valid ID, discount card, PIN, authorization letter, and valid ID of the owner. Meanwhile, the discount card, PIN, and a valid ID are to be presented by the farmer during personal a claim. Qualified corn farmers are duly registered in the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA).
The individual or his/her farmer’s cooperative or association must also own functional machinery with proof of ownership and must be further listed in the Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Management Information System (ABEMIS).
“The qualifications set by the government and its partner USSC assure that those who fulfill the requirements are the true beneficiaries for this support of the government,” Regional Technical Director for Operations Danilo P. Daguio underscored during the card distribution for Benguet farmers in Baguio City earlier today.
Similarly, the Program also caters to fisherfolks who are encoded in the Farmers and Fisherfolk Registry System (FFRS) with registered motorized motorboats in the ABEMIS. Distribution of cards for the fisherfolks is also ongoing through the DA-Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources-CAR.
