Ilokano writers elect new officers in Pangasinan

ALCALA, PANGASINAN – Multi- awarded trilingual writer Fernando “Nanding” B. Sanchez has been re-elected president of the Pangasinan chapter of the country’s oldest association of Ilokano writers.
With chapters across the globe, the organization, known by its acronym GUMIL Filipinas (GF), publishes literary anthologies and chronicles the aspirations and struggles of Ilokanos.
Acclaimed by colleagues as a “literary giant,” Sanchez is a retired public schools district supervisor (PSDS) and currently the vice president of Luna Colleges in Tayug, Pangasinan.
Aside from Sanchez, a native of San Nicolas, Pangasinan, the other chapter officials are: Virgilio D. Domaloy, vice president; Marlyn Garcia-del Rosario, secretary; Eufemia L. Diaz, treasurer; Felix M. Eslava Jr., auditor; and Billy T. Antonio, public information officer.
Members of the board of directors are Prescillano N. Bermudez, Ernesto Bisquera, Alfredo L. Mabalot, Benny Tagare Sanchez and Simplicio Sansano.
Advisers are Juan S.P. Hidalgo Jr. and Mariano Machacon, while MTC Judge Plotinus T. Sanchez is legal consultant.
The new members of GUMIL Pangasinan are Rev. Henry D. Roque, Amor Enrique P. Bermudez and Czarina Cristine A. Bermudez.
