La Union gives aid to Albay after Mayon eruption calamity

Going beyond its mantra “I Love La Union,” the Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) under the leadership of Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” R. Ortega III has shown that it is also ready to spread love to a sister province in need through the donation of PGLU of more than half a million pesos to Albay, a province in Visayas which was devastated by the sudden eruption of Mount Mayon in January early this year.
The cheque was personally delivered to Albay by the Secretary to the Sanggunian, Mr. Dontao A. Rimando, on April 6, 2018 and was received by Engr. Vida Maria Corazon C. Prollamante, provincial administrator of Albay and Ms. Mayflor A. Deang, provincial treasurer. Governor Al Francis Bichara was on official business at Malacañang at that time as he was called to a meeting with the President.
Resolution No. 034-2018 was approved by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan headed by Vice-Governor Aureo Augusto Q. Nisce setting aside P 645,900 from the calamity fund to be given as financial assistance to the Province of Albay which was declared under state of calamity early in January.  The eruption of Mount Mayon displaced 6,459 families covering 29 barangays from the cities of Legazpi, Ligao and Tobaco and from the municipalities of Daraga, Camalig, Guinobatan, Malilipot and Santo Domingo.
