NAGUILIAN RESCUE OPERATIONS SUCCESSFUL THROUGH RESCUE TEAMS AND VOLUNTEERS

NAGUILIAN, La Union

Driven by wellcoordinated rescue strategy operations, La Union rescue teams and locals took part for the successful joint rescue operations of four stranded individuals caused by rushing waters of the Naguilian River intensified by flood brought about by Typhoon #EgayPH at Barangay Bimmotobot, Naguilian, La Union on July 26, 2023 showing a remarkable scene of #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan. Equipped with their Water Search and Rescue Equipment, the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office have deployed their highly-skilled rescuers who took the first attempts to cross the waters to rescue the stranded individuals who are
from Baguio City, Benguet, and Isabela.

Working well with the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) District North Western Luzon, Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine National Police, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, and officials and residents of the barangay, the individuals were successfully rescued with the use of PCG’s motorized rubber boat secured through a rope line held by the rescuers and volunteers. A believer of La Union PROBINSYAnihan, local swimmer Roberto Gonzales, who was familiar in the site, was the first to volunteer to cross the waters to establish a life line from the stranded individuals to the safe spot.

Bimmotobot Barangay Captain Federico Hullana, Jr. participated in the entire rescue operations to ensure that residents responsibly and safely took part in the La Union PROBINSYAnihan rescue
operations. Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” Ortega-David assured kaprobinsiaan of the readiness
of the province in times of disaster and said, “Kung may nangangailangan po sa inyo ng tulong, please let us know…pwede po ninyong tawagan ang La Union Rescue Hotline po natin na 911 at agaran po kaming reresponde sa mga pangangailangan po ninyo.

Keep safe everyone, manatiling alerto po tayo lagi.” The Provincial Government of La Union encourages the public to be #AlertoKaprobinsiaan and take part in safe and responsible volunteerism and participation to La Union PROBINSYAnihan not only in times of disaster but ultimately in making an even better La Union.
