No extension for taxi synchronization in La Trinidad-Mayor Salda

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – In an exclusive interview on July 21, Mayor Romeo Salda said he will not issue another executive order (EO) extending the implementation of the temporary traffic scheme for taxis plying La Trinidad in synchronization with the traffic scheme being implemented as an “experimental” by the city.
On July 16 (2021), Mayor Salda issued EO 38-2021 , an order extending the implementation of the temporary traffic scheme for taxis plying La Trinidad in synchronization with the city’s traffic plan from July 16-31 (2021).
Salda emphasized that by August 1, they will start apprehending taxis plying their town following their own traffic number coding ordinance.
As this developed, Salda plans to meet their local traffic enforcers to come up with “counter measures” to address the issue.
He asked how come the city’s traffic scheme covers only taxis, lamenting its a “class legislation.”
Aimed at improving the flow of traffic, Salda strongly suggested that the entire BLISTT (Baguio-La Trinidad-Itogon-Tuba-Tublay) areas must be taken into consideration.
He explained that he issued EO 26-2021, to adopt the temporary traffic scheme of Baguio “so as not to cause further confusion among the commuting public and taxi drivers and traffic enforcers.”
Thus, the order (26-2021) has temporarily synchronized its traffic scheme for taxi units from Baguio entering the capital town from June 21 to 30 from 6 a.m. to 6 .am. the following day.
On June 23, Baguio City Councilor and lawyer Benny Bomogao, co-chairperson of the Baguio Traffic Management Committee, attended the Municipal Advisory Council and requested the town to adopt the temporary traffic scheme being implemented by the city.
