P0.4-B marijuana confiscated in Kalinga in 2019

CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet –  Almost half a billion pesos worth of illegal plant – marijuana were uprooted and confiscated in 2019 in the municipalities of Tinglayan, Tanudan and Tabuk City, all in Kalinga, according to Police Regional Office-Cordillera (Procor).
Official records exclusively obtained from Procor through its Public Information Office (PIO), showed that Tinglayan accounted the highest with P401.808 million ( street value) following the relentless anti-drug operations by combined military and police drug agents.
The total amount includes–1,903,840 marijuana plants, 160 kilos and 1,000 seeds of the illegal drug, respectively. It followed by Tabuk City with P17.710 million and Tanudan with P.6 million.
In 2018, in Tinglayan (Kalinga), authorities confiscated a total value of P174.485 million of the illegal plant. Last year (2019), three towns in Benguet (Kibungan, Bakun and Mankayan) accumulated P30.092 million worth of the illegal drug that were confiscated.
Kibungan town topped the list with P30.078 million eclipsing the P2.1 million marks it posted in 2018.
On the same year (2019), some P39.6 million of marijuana was confiscated in Mt Province particularly in the towns of Sadanga and Bauko while Ifugao posted P20k.
Procor also reported that 357 drug suspects were arrested last year including 57 high value targets from the 256 total anti-drug operations conducted. A total of 236 cases were filed in court.
In 2018, a total of 176 drug suspects were arrested out of 128 total anti-drug operations. And 102 cases were filed in
court.
