P10M Unused SAP Money Returned In CAR

BAGUIO CITY (May 30, 2020) – At least P10M unused Social Amelioration Program (SAP) funds goes back to the national coffers from the Cordillera region.
Nine towns in Abra, two in Ifugao, four in Mt. Province, three each in Kalinga and Benguet province have returned undisbursed SAP funds for the first tranche of the emergency cash subsidy for needy families.
Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Cordillera director Leo Quintilla said Bangued, Bucloc, Daguioman, Lacub, Licuan Baay, Luba, Pidigan, Tineg and Tubo Abra; Mayoyao and Hingyon in Ifugao; Besao, Barlig, Paracelis and Sadanga in Mt. Province; Tanudan, Tinglyan and Tabuk City in Kalinga and Sablan, Tuba and Bakun in Benguet returned unused SAP funds.
Most belong to fourth and fifth class towns.
The biggest recorded cash returns were from Mayoyao, Ifugao P1.4M and P2.4M from Sadanga, Mt. Province.
Quintilla explained that the towns returned unspent funds because there were no longer qualified families to receive such emergency cash assistance.
Aside from the returns, DSWD Cordillera also noted there were also a sizable number of supposed beneficiaries in the Cordillera who waived their cash assistance to those “much more in need”.
At least 1,727 families also waived their SAP benefits totaling to some P9.5M going back to the national coffers.
Cordillera “poorest of the poor” families received P5,500.00
