Two weed farms raided in Atok, Benguet thursday afternoon

La Trinidad, Benguet (June 11, 2020) — Two marijuana plantations were again razed, this time in Atok, Benguet 5 o’clock Thursday afternoon.
Atok town policemen, Benguet anti-drug police unit operatives, intelligence operatives and policemen from the Benguet police provincial headquarters with PDEA Cordillera agent swooped down on a 100-square meter marijuana plantation at sitio Paticnan, Caliking, Atok and razed some 500 fully-grown weed valued to reach P100,000.00.
Cordillera police director Brig. General RWin Pagkalinawan said no cultivator was arrested.
Less than an hour after, another 100-square meter plantation was discovered also at the same village at around 5:45PM. Some 500 fully-grown marijuana plants valued at P100, 000.00 were also put ablaze.
Also no cultivator was chanced upon by the authorities. Only last Tuesday morning, some 820 fully grown marijuana plants went up in smoke in at least two plantations located in a 50-square meter and 30 square meter communal lands in sitio Litting, barangay Patay, Sagada, Mt. Province. Valued at P164, 000.00, the two plantations were discovered by joint police and PDEA-Mt. Province agents after Sagada town policemen were tipped by informants.
Also on Monday noon, two illicit marijuana plantations in Tabuk City, Kalinga were also torched down after policemen who were supposedly on combat patrol operations accidentally discovered the plantations on a 700-square meter land at sitio Catao, barangay Lacnog.
The uprooted 3,500 fully grown marijuana plants on both plantations valued to reach P700,000.00 were also set ablaze.
Just last Saturday and Sunday, two marijuana plantations were also discovered in Tabuk City and two more illicit marijuana farms in remote Tacadang in Kibungan, Benguet.
Policemen on an intelligence mission on Saturday said they chanced upon the 200 square meter plantation in sitio Ileb, barangay Nambaran, Tabuk City planted with around 1,000 marijuana plants valued at P200,000.00.
Upon discovery, the marijuana were uprooted and set on fire to completely destroy and prevent it from reaching the illicit market, said Pagkalinawan.
Yet in another location in the same village, a 300-square meter marijuana plantation was uncovered near the first plantation with 1,500 marijuana plants valued at P300,000.00.
The second plantation was also razed to the ground. On Sunday afternoon, policemen and PDEA agents who were validating tips of marijuana plantations in sitio Asoan, Tacadang, Kibungan, Benguet confirmed first hand that a 50-square meter lot was planted with 200 marijuana plants valued at P40,000.00.
Policemen also uncovered another 70 square meter marijuana plantation at the same sitio with 350 fully grown marijuana worth P70,000.00.
No one was also named as behind the plantations.
