Attempt To Sneak Out P2M Hashish Oil From Kalinga Town Foiled

BAGUIO CITY (March 17, 2021) – Authorities foiled an attempt to smuggle hashish oil out from its source in Kalinga town Tuesday afternoon.
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Mt. Province agents joined in by Mt. Province policemen flagged down motorcycle-riding drug traders Flores Balnao Maguilao, from Tulgao, Tinglayan, Kalinga and Neson Collasit Banzon from Calagdao, Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga’s capital, at the Ampawilen checkpoint in Poblacion, Sadanga at around 12:40PM Tuesday.
When searched, hashish oil kept on a glass bottle of a popular local gin brand and 5 more amber colored bottles were found from the duo, PDEA-Cordillera director Gil Castro said.
Director Castro estimates the contraband, which came from Tinglayan town in Kalinga, allegedly still the hotbed of illicit marijuana plantation sites, to reach P2 million in market value.
The hashish oil, made from processing dried marijuana leaves into a viscous liquid, is enroute to Manila, added Dir. Castro.
According to Wikipedia, hash oil, also known as honey oil or cannabis oil, is an oleoresin obtained by the extraction of cannabis or hashish.

It is a cannabis concentrate containing many of its resins and terpenes – in particular, tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), cannabidiol (CBD), and other cannabinoids.
The first association with hashish oil is getting extremely high, Wikipedia added.  Hash oil, as any other concentrate, has a powerful effect on the body, though there are some side effects as well, which may include: paranoia; hallucinations; red eyes; munchies; sleepiness; anxiety; memory problems; dry mouth; increased heart rate; widening of blood vessels, and many others.
Castro said the common user drops the oil via a medicine dropper unto the cigarette.  “Ten times ang tama”.  (It is 10 times more potent than the smoking marijuana).
Though hash oil can also be vaped, eaten or rubbed unto the skin.  The use of hash oil is sometimes called “ dabbing ” or “burning”, Wikipedia added.
Producing hashish oil had been an open secret in remote and difficult to reach villages in Tinglayan, according to authorities.
Despite continuous anti-illegal drug operations against marijuana cultivators, the plantations thrive on mostly public lots where authorities are blind who cultivate and maintain the prohibited plant.

Authorities however are now into deep who might be tolerating the illegal trade and once having enough evidences, will expose and sue them, especially public officials who despite having information on these illegal activities have become mum.
