Baguio City Posts Record-high 68 Covid19 Cases, But 22 Recoveries Too

BAGUIO CITY (Sept. 28  2020)- Baguio City posted record-high of 68 new COVID -19 cases Monday though there were 22 recoveries.
The number of cases, so far the city’s highest in a day, spiked as one cluster in Lower Lourdes registered additional 57 cases, also the highest number in a day for one cluster.
Mayor Benjie Magalong said 56 of those infected were police trainees staying in the area.
But all of the patients, old and new, and their contacts according to public health officials had long been isolated and quarantined thus had had no contacts from outside the place of infection since the first cases were detected last September 24.
All the rest of the 68 cases were contacts of previous cases and part of other case clusters in households and  barangays.
Magalong though assired that the city’s containment strategies on PDITR (Prevent, Detect, Isolate, Treat, and Reintegrate) are in place to address  all cases.
He again reminded the public on these safety measures: “At home: wash your hands and change your clothes before you spend time with your family, disinfect your door knobs and other frequently touched surfaces in the home, and monitor each other for flu-like symptoms;
“When outside, always wear your masks and shields properly, observe physical distancing, wash hands and disinfect regularly and avoid crowded and enclosed spaces and close conversations.”
