“Independence is a freedom from want, the best thing in life that we have. This is something we have to ponder upon. We are not here enjoying it if not because of our great grandfathers. We are now enjoying peace and unity which they sacrificed for us,” outgoing Mayor Eulogio Clarence Martin P. de Guzman III says on his last speaking engagement as the head of the town of 18 years of committed and fruitful service on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 during this year’s Independence Day celebration themed “Tapang ng Bayan, Malasakit sa Mamayan” with outgoing Vice Mayor Bonifacio G. Malinao, Sr., Sangguniang Bayan Members Warlito Daus, Jr.; Gabriel Sotto; Danilo Abuan; Raymund Ganaden; and George Picardal.
A wreath-laying ceremony followed at the monument of Philippine national hero Jose Rizal.
