BCPO LEADS UNITY WALK FOR PEACEFUL BSKE 2023

BAGUIO CITY

As the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections campaign period officially starts, the Baguio City Police Office took the lead in a unity walk, an interfaith rally, and peace covenant signing which took place from the Baguio Convention Center to the PFVR Gymnasium, Military Cut-off, Baguio City on October 18.

The event was graced by the high-ranking officials representing various government agencies, including the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Philippine National Police (PNP) led by Brig.Gen.David Peredo,Jr., regional director of the Police Regional Office-Cordillera, Philippine Army (PA), Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), Department of Education (Dep-Ed), Commission on Elections (COMELEC), some faith-based leaders, and various candidates
for the forthcoming Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE) 2023.

BCPO City Director, Col. Francisco Bulwayan,Jr., welcomed all participants and emphasized
the importance of maintaining law and order during the electoral process. He also stated that the purpose of said event was to promote peaceful and orderly elections in preparation for the nearing
BSKE 2023. During the event, Atty. Elenita Julia TabanginCapuyan, the Provincial Election Supervisor for Baguio City and Benguet, encouraged all participants to embrace the values of sportsmanship and a steadfast commitment to ensure the safety and security of the upcoming elections.

Likewise, Mr. Ruperto B. Marribay Jr., the Assistant Regional Director of DILG-CAR, commended the candidates for adhering to the rules set by the Omnibus Election Code of the Philippines during his address. The highlight of the event was the recital and signing of the Pledge of Commitment. The candidates, officials from various government offices, community leaders, and representatives from the private sector signed the pledge as their commitment to promote a secure and crime-free
environment during the election period.

Meanwhile, Peredo assured the public of the people’s full support for a peaceful election and called on everyone to work together for the development of the community. After the signing and recital of the pledge of commitment, the representatives from the different sectors released balloons as a symbol of collective aspiration and efforts for a peaceful and harmonious electoral process that respects the voices and choices of every voter. To date, Baguio City remains in the green category;
nevertheless, the BCPO continuously increased its visibility on major thoroughfares and established
strategic PNP-Comelec checkpoints.
