PROCOR chief appeals, stop “political vendetta”

BANGUED, Abra – Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR) Regional Director Israel Ephraim Dickson on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 asked politicians in Abra to refrain from “political vendetta” as it vowed to strengthen police visibility and other law enforcement activities to sustain the peace and order situation in the province which earned the respect as the most peaceful ever election conducted in years, especially the recently concluded midterm polls.
“Sana ihinto na ang mga gantihan kasi baka may maggagantihan pa diyan. So I am also appealing to the media at sa mga taong nakikinig sa atin na ang mga nagpla-plano ay sabihin na lang sa atin o pangaralan, or sabihin sa amin in advance para ma-aksyonan,” Dickson said.
Dickson led other PROCOR officials during the Post Election Assessment activity held at Abra Provincial Police headquarters in Camp Juan Villamor here.
“Mas maganda kung maprevent kaysa magkaroon pa ng escalation, atrocities or yung gantihan, or magkasingilan,” Dickson said as he expressed optimism that the people in Abra have learned the lessons in the past political exercises.
“Based on the assessment of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), it is the most peaceful ever elections conducted in the Cordillera region especially in Abra,” Dickson stressed.
Dickson attributed the result of assessment to the harmonious relationships between Comelec, police and the Armed Forces as well as the media and political supporters.
“At siguro yung nakikita nila (referring to the Abrenians) na walang mangyayari kung ipinapakita natin na violente and mga taga-Abra na hindi naman talaga, edukado tayo at magandang umpisa yun,” Dickson said.
He also said that the close coordination between PNP and AFP played an important role in maintaining an orderly, peaceful and credible election especially in areas identified as “hot spots.”
Dickson also pointed out the series of security plans and preparations which he said was perfectly executed.
To sustain it, Dickson said, plans that which were laid out will serve as a basis for future actions, and also by strengthening police visibility and other police activities.
COMELEC Commissioner Al Parreño and lawyer Maria Juana Valeza, who then served as Regional Election Director in the May polls, and other top AFP officers to include Maj. Gen. Bismark Soliba, Assistant Division Commander, 5th Infantry Division (Phil.Army) and Brig. Gen Henry Robinson, Commander, 702nd Brigade (PA) were present during the said activity.
The activity highlighted the awarding of certificates of commendation to stakeholders—PNP, AFP personnel.
Earlier, Diskson led the Conferment of Proficient Status to some men and women of Abra Police Command led by P/COL. Alfredo Dangani.
Dickson also led the ceremonial turn-over of firearms, mobility and other police equipment to the Abra Police Command.
