“10th LINK Club Academic Festival”

BAGUIO CITY —The Philippine Mental Health Association Cordillera chapter Inc. In collaboration with Department of Education conducted their 10th LINK Club Academic festival last March 6, 2020 Baguio Central University.
Benguet wherein students from 26 different schools around Baguio and Benguet competed against each other through different activities like oration, interpretive dance, poster making, song composition, essay writing and a quiz bee which are all follow the festival’s theme of “Mental Health Promotion and Suicide Prevention”.
Originally the Festival was supposed to be held back in February but due to the COVID-19 scare, PMHA decided to move the event to March 6 for safety concerns.
The festival was conducted for students to encourage students and members to learn more about mental health and express themselves through the different competitions, it also gives the students a chance to interact with one another.
“Despite the COVID 19 scare, we’re overwhelmed by just how many students joined the activity and over all we’re glad about the turn out of the event because instead of students staying home they decided to come join our Academic festival” said Christine Gina Comsol, Chapter Executive Manager of PMHA Cordillera Inc.
During the event students went all out against each other in every competition, schools in the top 5 for each category were rewarded with certificates and even cash for their entries and in 4 out of the 6 competitions. The University of Baguio Science High School became champion for the Poster making, quiz bee, Song competition and the essay writing competitions.
“Di namin na expect na we would win the most times dito sa festival, pumunta lang kami for compliance sake, but yeah this event was really nice.” Said Rafa Sungduan, The University of Baguio Science High School student.
