180 learners receive gifts from 1st Kalinga MFC, KAYO-50IB

CITY OF TABUK, Kalinga, Oct. 5 (PIA) – One hundred eighty school children received assorted school supplies and hygiene kits from Project Ka BADANG of the 1st Kalinga Mobile Force Company
and Project Shoebox of the Kalinga-Apayao Youth Organization (KAYO), in partnership with the 50thInfantry Battalion. Beneficiaries are learners of Dupag, Gaogao and Bullaguiyan Elementary Schools, all of Barangay Dupag, an End Local Communist Armed Conflict area in this city.
The recent outreach program of the police, KAYO – 50 IB is their way of helping school children cope with COVID-19 pandemic. The PNP Mobile Force and its Company Advisory Council started many years ago the KaBadang targeting indigent families and poor communities especially in conflict areas.
Shoebox, on the other hand, aims to reach out to children affected by the widespread community quarantine caused by the COVID-19 pandemic thru the distribution of basic school needs like paper, pencil, and erasers in shoe boxes.
It also aims to inspire the young generation make better choices for their future.
Members of the Parents- Teachers Association and barangay officials who witnessed the distribution appreciated this noble mission of the uniformed personnel. “Dakkel nagbaliwan ti tiempo. Idi mabuteng kami ti pulis ken suldado. Ngem tattakabadang min isuda ken gayyem. Isuda kanayon nga katkatakunaynaymi ken salaknibmi” (Times have changed a lot. Before we were afraid of the police and the soldiers. But now, they are our helpers and friends. They are our constant collaborators and protector), said Dupag Barangay Chairman Adolfo Domini.
The PNP and the 50IB committed to continue this project and sustain it as their good practice in attaining their respective objectives.
