3 of 4 Buildings in Benguet are residential

BAGUIO CITY – Majority of private buildings being constructed in
Baguio and Benguet are residential, the regional Philippine Statistics Office (PSA-CAR) said on Tuesday.
PSA Regional Director Villafe P. Alibuyog, in a statement, said that 73.9 percent of the region’s private construction projects in the third quarter of 2018 comprised of residential building constructions.
Non-residential building constructions comprised 14.5 percent, while alteration and repairs comprised 7.2 percent.
All types of residential buildings comprised the approved constructions in Benguet and Baguio areas with a total of 119 building projects recorded in the third quarter of 2018.
A total of 107 units were designed for single occupancy, 2 units for duplex/quad-ruplex, 9 new apartments, and 1 residential condominium, the statement said.
The statement also recorded Apayao with 37 residential building constructions, all designed for single occupancy. Fifteen housing projects were approved in Kalinga; Ifugao recorded 9 housing projects; Abra with two housing constructions; and Mt. Province with one housing project.
The Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) contributed 0.6 percent to the total private building construction in the country during the third quarter of 2018, the statement said.
There were 243 new building constructions recorded from the approved building permits in CAR, which represented a decrease of 21.3 percent from 309 building projects in the same quarter in 2017.
These constructions had a total floor area of 75,448 square meters and with a value of PHP 1.0 billion.
