5 drug suspects fall in buy-bust operations

CAMP BADO DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – Police Regional Office Cordillera (PROCOR) scored anew in the fight against illegal drugs following the recent arrest of five drug peddlers in successive separate buy-bust operations region wide on Thursday, May 23, 2019.

Arrested in Barangay Dangdangla, Bangued, Abra Thursday morning was identified as Deogracias V. Astudillo Iniol, 32, tricycle driver, and a resident of Zone 7, Bangued, Abra.

He was caught by joint operating units of the Intelligence and Drug Enforcement personnel of Abra PPO, Abra Provincial Maneuver Force Company (PMFC) PROCOR Regional Intelligence Division (RID), Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU-14) and Bangued police after he sold a sachet of drugs to one of the operatives who acted as a buyer.

Confiscated from his possession were one (1) plastic sachet containing suspected shabu; Php3,000.00 boodle money; Php500.00 cash money; one (1) unit Samsung smart phone; and
one (1) unit green tricycle.

On the other hand, two drug suspects were also individually arrested in Baguio city for the same offense. Both were nabbed after peddling sachet of illegal drugs to one of the operatives who acted as a poseur buyer.

Operating troops of the Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), Criminal Investigation Unit (CIU) and Police Station 8 of Baguio City Police Office, in coordination with PDEA-CAR arrested Allen Palangeo Saleo-an, 53, a resident of Camp 8, Kennon Road, Baguio City at Bontoc Village, Purok 3, Camp 8, Baguio City Thursday afternoon.

Also arrested by operatives of Station 2, Baguio CPO at Happy Homes, Baguio City Thursday evening was Kenneth Talines Bustamante, 28, presently residing at Middle Quirino Hill, Baguio City.

Confiscated from Saleo-an were two (2) plastic sachets containing suspected shabu while another two heat sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected “shabu”, assorted drug paraphernalia, and two cellular phones were seized from Bustamante.

In Kalinga, two (2) farmers were nabbed at Nasgueban, Magsaysay, Tabuk City Thursday afternoon. One of the arrested drug suspects is a high value target identified as Yull Bryner B. Carbonel, 21, a resident of San Juan, Tabuk City, Kalinga and his companion Ferdinand G. Guillermo, 27, a resident of Magsaysay, Tabuk City.

Both were arrested by Tabuk police and confiscated from their possession were four (4) heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu; Php1,000.00 buy bust money; and other drug paraphernalia.

Charges for violation of R.A. 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 were filed against them.

Police Brigadier General Israel Ephraim T. Dickson lauded the participating personnel for a job well done in sustaining campaign against illegal drugs in the region.

He encouraged his men to do more and go after drug traffickers as well as users, “let us not put our guards down in the illegal drugs campaign until we are sure that our children can roam the streets at night without fear of being victimized by people under the influence of drugs”, Dickson said.
