Beneco to install street lights, CCTV for Bokod

In keeping with its support program for towns withhin its franchise area, the Benguet Electric Cooperative will install 50 units of 70-watt streetlights and five closed-circuit television cameras for Bokod, Benguet.
The installation is part of Beneco’s support to the peace and order campaign within its area of operation and in consonance with its plan to develop a mini-hydro project in Bokod.
Beneco president Rocky Aliping and Bokod Mayor Thomas Wales Jr. signed the memorandum of agreement covering the project last March 26.
As agreed, the street lights will be on from 6pm to 6am with the energy consumption, equipment and materials to be installed “shall be considered as advanced payment from Beneco” for its hydroelectric project in the town.
The 50 units of streetlights shall be distributed to barangay Pito – 5, Bobok-Bisal – 8, Poblacion – 11, Ekip – 7, Karao – 5, Bila – 5, Daclan – 5, and Nawal – 5.
Beneco General Manager Gerry Verzosa, through Engr. Melchor Licoben, said the CCTV cameras will be installed near the crossing of the national road and the road going to the Bokod National High School, beside the police office at Gurel, concrete pole beside the Bobok barangay hall, concrete pole near the Ambangeg police outpost and entrance going to the municipal building.
The agreement provided that “Beneco shall provide the necessary labor cost and materials for the maintenance/repair and total replacement of broken/busted and dilapidated street lights and street light accessories, and the CCTV cameras to be computed and charged to the future benefits of the municipality (from the mini-hydro to be constructed).
