The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Baguio has prepared series of activities for Fire Prevention Month in March with its theme “Sa pag iwas sa sunog, hindi ka nag-iisa.” Chief Operations Baguio City Fire Station, Insp. Bartolome Cacamo said a motorcade parade will kick-off at 6 a.m. from Burnham Park to Baguio City Hall on March 1.
A simultaneous blowing of horns and sirens will be conducted nationwide at 12 noon on the same date. “We will create and organize a Community Fire Auxiliary Group (CFAG) that would respond immediately to fires and vehicular accidents before the BFP team arrives. The members of each barangay will be given basic knowledge about firefighting,” Cacamo said.
A fire protection-related seminars and activities will also be conducted at schools, barangays, and big establishments with the help of teachers, barangay officials, and business owners, the BFP official added. These activities aim to educate the public in hopes of reducing fire in the city. In 2022, a total of 61 fire occurrences were recorded in the city, government record showed.
