Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat led the ribbon cutting of the Ridge and Reef Mini Travel and Trade Fair as part of the launching of the Ridge and Reef “Baguio – Region 1” Travel Corridor at the Baguio Convention Center on September 22, 2020.
The travel and trade fair which showcases the different tourist destinations and products of the Baguio City, La Union, Pangasinan, Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte as part of the convergence between the local governments units for the gradual reopening of their tourism despite the COVID-19 pandemic.
The tourism corridor, or “tourism bubble,” will allow residents of Baguio City to travel within the Ilocos region and residents in Region 1 will also be allowed in the tourism destinations in Baguio City on a limited capacity amid the coronavirus threat.
Also present during the ceremony were Ilocos Norte Governor Matthew Joseph Marcos Manotoc, La Union Governor Francisco Emmanuel Ortega III, DOT Region 1 Regional Director Joseph Francisco Ortega, Baguio City Congressman Mark Go, Mayor Benjamin Magalong and his wife Arlene, and Vice Mayor Faustino Olowan.
