DPWH-Benguet completes high impact projects in 2018

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The Benguet First Engineering District I of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)- Cordillera reported that it has competed millions worth of high impact projects in 2018.

District Engineer Ireneo Gallato of Benguet First Engineering District I, said these impact projects, based on the report submitted by Engineer Marjory Banao (Monitoring Section), include a farm to market road, flood control structures; multipurpose building (open
gym); and access roads.

The P7 million worth farm to market road which has a length of 1,400 lineal meters is located at Barangay Adaoay in Kabayan. With the paved roads, it will boost the economic condition of several farmers and reduce travel time in transporting their products to trading centers, Gallato said.

The two flood control projects worth P147.5 million are located in Barangays Poblacion and Karao in Bokod, and Naguillian River Basin Balili River Section, this capital town.

The DPWH official said the flood mitigation structures will also boost the economic condition of the localities by protecting the riverbanks to support the agricultural products as well as to avoid
loss of life and property dwelling in the two areas.

Benguet First Engineering District I also has completed a P6 million worth Multipurpose Building (open gym) inside the Adaoay National High School in Barangay Adaoay in Kabayan.

With the completion of the facility, it will further encourage the youth in Kabayan to engage in indoor sports as well as reduce illiteracy since the youth will be inspired to finish their schooling, and it will be used for their graduation, Banao said.

Banao is also the Public Information Officer (PIO) of the district. Banao added, it promotes camaraderie among the locality since the facility will be used for social gatherings.

A road network project worth P16.296 million was also completed at the regional office of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Camp Bado Dangwa.
