NEDA-CAR launches PPP knowledge corner for LGUs

BAGUIO CITY – To strengthen its support for local implementing agencies, the National Economic Development Authority-Cordillera (NEDA-CAR) launched on Monday (May 28) the Public-Private Partnership (PPPP) Knowledge Corner.
The PPP knowledge corner is a collaboration project between NEDA-CAR and the PPP Center of the Philippines. It aims to provide technical support service to all local implementing agencies of PPP projects in the region.
During the launching, Jomel Anthony Gutierrez, Director III of the Capacity Building and Knowledge Management Service (CBKMS)-PPP Center, told the participants that they greatly appreciate the initiatives of NEDA-CAR to establish a knowledge corner for the region. He said the only local government unit (LGU) in the region that so far benefited from their technical support service for PPP projects is Baguio and Benguet.
“We thank NEDA-CAR for initiating the establishment of the PPP knowledge corner because this is our strategy to tap the potentials and capabilities of local PPP projects implementers. With this initiative, the PPP center can now fully provide technical support service to ensure all projects and development is well implemented,” Gutierrez said.
With the establishment of the knowledge corner, local implementing agencies such as LGUs, universities and state colleges, government owned and controlled corporations, water districts, regional line agencies and other stakeholders can now acquire accurate information and knowledge on PPPs.
Aside from being the hub of information, the knowledge corner will also serve as access point for the region to avail of the services that the PPP Center provides. With this scheme, the center believes that the region can develop bankable and viable projects that would truly benefit its people.
“Were hoping that with these initiatives, we can encourage more local implementing agencies to consider PPP as one of their options for their infrastructure and development projects”, Gutierrez said.
To ensure smooth transaction and serve its purposes, a staff and a focal person will be assigned at the knowledge corner. Their job is to accommodate clients and their queries including close coordination with the PPP center.
The establishment of the PPPs knowledge corner in the region is inline with the Duterte’s thrust to explore all avenues of equitable growth and development in the countryside. The administration believes that through rapid building up of infrastructure projects, all Filipinos can enjoy a “matatag, maginhawa, at panatag na buhay”. DIONISIO DENNIS JR. / ABN
