PGLU AND GOV. RAFY LEADS ASSISTIVE DEVICES DISTRIBUTION TO 1,053 SENIOR, PWDs

SAN FERNANDO, La Union

Gov. Raphaelle Veronica “Rafy” OrtegaDavid took the lead in personally distributing assistive devices to kaPROBINSYANihan Senior Citizens and Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) on January 30, 2024, at the Home for the Elderly in Barangay Ili Norte, San Juan, La Union. A total of 1,053 beneficiaries, comprising 387 PWDs and 666 senior citizens, received different assistive devices to address their needs for them to carry out their daily activities, participate actively in their communities, and fulfill their potential.

For senior citizens, distributed assistive devices included wheelchairs, crutches, hearing aids, and eyeglasses. Meanwhile, PWDs received single-tip canes, crutches, quad canes, prostheses, walkers, wheelchairs, blind canes, eyeglasses, and hearing aids. These assistive devices were completely distributed to the beneficiaries through the help of local suppliers namely ARamp Trading Assistive Devices, Your Eye Care Clinic Assistive Device, and Al
Buenavista Enterprise Inc. Ad.

In her message, Gov. Rafy thanked everyone’s support to the province’s call for La Union PROBINSYAnihan. She also emphasized that the provision of assistance to seniors and PWDs is along with the province’s vision to improve the lives of kaPROBINSYAnihan. “The entire Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU) is immensely proud to spearhead this initiative in collaboration with our partners. Our sincere hope is that these devices will cater to the needs and enhance the quality of life for our Senior Citizens and PWDs,” states the governor in her message.

The PGLU remains dedicated to its ongoing program of serving the elderly and empowering PWDs which aligns with the province’s commitment to fostering a more inclusive and supportive community for all kaPROBINSYAnihan.
