PGLU CULTIVATES FUN FARMNG GUIDING TRAINING TO FARM OWNERS

As the province envisions to be The Heart of Agri-Tourism in Northern Luzon by 2025, the
Provincial Government of La Union (PGLU), under the leadership of Gov. Rafy Ortega-David and through the La Union Provincial Tourism Office (LUPTO), continues to strengthen its initiatives for the development of Farm Tourism through industry manpower skills trainings.

Conducted on September 21-22, 2023 in a hotel in Bauang, 31 local farm tourism site owners and members of the La Union Farm Tourism Association participated in the Fun Farms Tour Guiding and Filipino Brand of Service Excellence Training. Mr. Keneth De Gracia, a Department of Tourism
Accredited Trainer, facilitated the training with modules and learning activities on how to develop Farm Tours with emphasis on strategies for budgeting, costing and marketing.

He also discussed effective customer service and professional work values and the Filipino Brand of Service Excellence wherein stakeholders incorporate Filipino hospitality values in providing tourism services. In his opening speech, Supervising Tourism Operations Officer, Mr. Julius A.
Manabat underscored that Farm Guides are inviolable pillars of Agri-Tourism for they serve as
the source of information that shall develop tourist appreciation and patronage.

As La Union marches its way towards its vision, this training is expected to strengthen #LaUnionPROBINSYAnihan amongst the farm tourism site owners that will not only boost
economic progress but also develop more tourist-friendly destinations.
