SNAP promotes health, safety, and envi awareness in Benguet

Renewable energy solutions provider SN Aboitiz PowerBenguet (SNAP-Benguet) recently conducted series of Information, Education, and Communication activities as part of its campaign to promote health, safety, and environmental awareness in its host communities.
The intensified campaign attended by around 300 residents, school workers and students from Barangay Tinongdan, Itogon made special mention of measures that can be taken to protect households against COVID-19.
The first leg of the campaign on February 21, 2020, at Tinongdan Barangay Hall was attended by 125 residents while 164 school workers and students were gathered at Binga National High School on March 5.
On the importance of being aware and staying healthy as issues on COVID-19 arises, SNAP-Benguet nurse Jillann Jacinto addressed myths about the virus and presented preventive measures to combat the threat.
To raise awareness on the causes and effects of deforestation to the environment, community relations sr. specialist Ramon Capsula discussed the environmental disaster associated with forest clear cutting and its environmental risks and hazards to people.
Meanwhile, safety sr. specialist Jessie Palma cited safety as one of SNAP’s core values, and shared practical safety habits that promote a safe and healthy environment applicable at work as well as at home.
SNAP Group President and CEO Joseph Yu, sent a message to barangay Tinongdan through Jose Lachica III, SHESQ Sr. Manager, “Tunay pong isinasabuhay ng SNAP ang aming corporate value na Safety, sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay ng positibong kaalaman tungkol sa COVID19; hindi lamang sa mga sarili naming empleyado, kundi maging sa aming mga partners at host communities.
Nawa, makatulong sa inyong pamilya, at sa komunidad ang aming munting ambag para mapaghandaan ang paglaganap ng COVID-19.”
The same campaign is set to take place in Ambuklao, Bokod, Benguet, Lachica added. In closing, proper hand washing and usage of the surgical mask were also demonstrated by Rachelle Anne Severo, SNAP-Benguet Nurse.
Hygiene kits to the attendees were distributed as part of the COVID-19 preventive measures. SNAP-Benguet is a joint venture between SN Power of Norway and AboitizPower. It operates the 105-MW Ambuklao hydro and the 140-MW Binga hydro both in the Benguet Province.
