Three Rebels Yield To Benguet Cops

La Trinidad, Benguet (April 30, 2021 — Three self-confessed members of the New Peoples Army (NPA) voluntarily turned themselves in to Benguet policemen at the police provincial headquarters at Camp Major Bado Dangwa, here this week, allegedly further thinning down the remnants of the NPA in the Cordillera.
The trio, though still not named by the Benguet police, were operating under the Kilusang Larangang Gerilya (KLG) North Abra and were all logged under the “Periodic Status Report on the Threat Groups (PSRTG) watchlist for the 4th Quarter of 2020”,  said Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Ronald Lee.
The police claimed their continuous contact with the family of the guerillas,  prompted the rebels to be convinced to give up to the government.
The trio were brought to to Benguet to seek safe refuge and possibly employment.
At the Benguet police headquarters, the trio underwent processes for their formal surrender, as they also turned in an M14 rifle without serial number with ten pieces of 7.62mm live ammunition, a Thompson submachine gun with one magazine loaded with seven pieces of caliber 45 live ammos and another Interdynamic submachine gun KG9 9mm Luger bearing serial number SN 810069 with one magazine and 13 pieces of 9mm live ammos.
BGen. Lee added that the three will also receive cash aid and were initially handed with assorted groceries while the labor department here offered them a livelihood program.
