Tobacco Festival

Probably the only festival celebrating tobacco production, Candon City’s Tobacco Festival was surprisingly colorful, intricate and celebratory.
The city’s 40 barangays merged into five clusters as they danced in the main streets of Candon, with the thermometer reaching the middle 30s.
Candon is the biggest producer of virginia tobacco in the country. The Tobacco Festival also celebrates the Ikkis ti Candon (Cry of Candon) when The Republic of Candon announced its independence from Spain in March 25, 1898, a few weeks before the Malolos Republic.
