Zero casualty after first 24-hr ‘Ompong’ operations in CSFLU

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, LA UNION – Hours after the forced evacuation order, the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council reported a total of 3,610 evacuees in 29 identified evacuation areas around the city and zero reported casualty as of 6pm of September 15, 2018, during the onslaught of typhoon Ompong.
The CDRRMC have successfully coordinated incident reports from the on-ground teams and residents which they have been responded immediately. City responders and volunteers are divided into various teams working in shifts to address concerns and emergencies immediately.
After 24 hours of non-stop operations and through the continuous help and coordination of over 300 volunteers coming from the local government unit, Philippine National Police, Army Reservists, Bureau of Fire and Protection, Philippine Coast Guard, Department of Health, private partners, youth, and other volunteers, the Command Center reported zero casualty and injury.
Mayor Dong Gualberto along with other local government employees are constantly visiting different evacuation areas to monitor conditions of the evacuees. Manong Dong is committed to his priority of ensuring safety and comfort for the people of San Fernando staying true to his statement, “Walang maiiwan, walang mapapabayaan.”
