Abra students take bronze medal in World Robot Games

Five high school students from Bangued, Abra finished third in the World Robot Games held virtually last March. Ma. Teresita Viste, Keneth Seruno, Venice Balbin, Marc Dei Niel Bides and Shefaly Daime Valencia of the Abra High School took home the bronze medal in the WRG that was held online due to the pandemic and whose winners were announced Wednesday.
Viste and Seruno also took the bronze medal in the 7th World Innovative Technology Challenge for their gadget that stop the spread of Covid-19 late last year.
The five that comprise the AHS Robotics team were declared bronze medalist in the Innovation Category during the awarding ceremony that was held on Facebook live at 5PM on April 21.
In a message, Abra Gov. Ma. Jocelyn Bernos said: “These young Abreons make us proud.” She added: “Their feat shows they can be at par with the other young people of the world and that they may serve as inspiration for other young Abrenos to shine. Kodus to their teachers for helping these kids discover their potentials.”
Though initially eyed a three day event, from March 25-28, submission of entries was extended until April 15 due to unforeseen circumstances and lockdown issues.”
The Department of Education – Abra school division’s DepEd Tayo Abra page also congratulated the team for winning the bronze in the innovation category of the WRG 2021.

Last March, the duo of Seruno and Viste received their bronze medals and certificate that came all the way from Australia in the 7th WITC hosted by said country.
In winning the bronze medal, the tandem presented an automated solar-powered disinfection devices with mist mechanism, (ultraviolet) UV lamps and live broadcast system that has earned the nod of the judges during the online presentation in November 13 of last year.
Their medals and certificates arrived last March.
