Baguio City Big-time Drug Trader On The Run After Thursday Night Shootout

BAGUIO CITY – Baguio City alleged big-time drug trader Abdul Raman Abdullahi was given only six hours to surface and give up to authorities after Thursday night’s shootout with Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives along Upper Malvar st. here.
PDEA-Cordillera regional director Gil Castro ordered operatives to track Abdullahi, 30’s, who was infamous for smuggling huge amounts, sometimes a kilo of shabu, from lowlands, after a near sting operation 10PM Thursday that resulted into a brief shootout with agents out to bust him.
Abdullahi, with a still unidentified driver aboard a maroon Mitsubishi Montero SUV with conduction sticker B3R253, were supposed to hand out the shabu to an undercover agent, when Abdullahi noticed government agents prompting him to speed uphill and rammed into a PDEA van positioned downhill twice and began firing semi-automatic shots at the agents inside the van, hitting the van’s windshield at the driver side.
PDEA agents on the van fired back, maneuvered and chased but failed to catch up on Abdullahi’s vehicle. At around 8AM Friday, Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo Lower QM Barangay chairman Michael Mariñas reported that the right fender-damaged and five bullet-riddled maroon Mitsubishi Montero SUV was found abandoned along Dr. Carino St. extension, said Baguio City police station 2 chief Captain Jeremiah Benito, whose men joined the pursuit operations against Abdullahi.
PDEA-Baguio operatives aided by a SWAT team from the Baguio City police searched a supposed apartment reportedly occupied by a relative of Abdullah, but did not find him there. A relative of Abdullah Friday mid afternoon reportedly sent surrender feelers at the office of Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong.
There are only two choices (for him), Director Castro said. “Leave Baguio City or suffer the consequences.” The warning also goes to all drug personalities in Baguio City and Cordillera region, Castro added.
PDEA vowed the manhunt against Abdullahi will continue until he will not surrender. “When the agents pursuing him will once again be placed in danger, pasensyahan na lang.” Castro promised.  Authorities said Abdullahi is also being hunted for rape.
